4Science is thrilled to announce our collaboration with the University of Cambridge on a groundbreaking project for the integration between DSpace and OpenAlex, two major systems in the global scholarly ecosystem.

This initiative, supported by the Vietsch Foundation, aims to enrich open scholarly information and streamline research workflows.

Project Overview

The integration will leverage OpenAlex’s open API to enable swift import of relevant research and scholarly metadata into DSpace repositories.

This advancement will significantly improve the quality and completeness of research output records in institutional repositories.

Key Benefits

  1. Enhanced Data Quality: By reusing data from OpenAlex, institutions can improve the accuracy and comprehensiveness of their repository content
  1. Better Workflows: Institutions will benefit from automated, accurate information import, allowing them to focus on research-oriented tasks.
  1. Open Access: The integration will increase the number of versions and access points to content, enhancing the wider open access network

DSpace and OpenAlex Integration

This project aligns with the growing expectation for open sharing of research findings among funders, policymakers, and the broader research community. By enhancing the availability of open and accurate research output information in DSpace, we  are contributing to a more transparent and accessible scholarly ecosystem.

Looking Forward

As a certified platinum DSpace provider and lead community contributor globally, 4Science is committed to advancing open science initiatives. This integration project represents a significant step towards enriching the global research landscape and supporting open research practices.
