The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), the international member organisation that builds capacity, align policies and practices to support repository networks globally, has announced a significant milestone. Controlled Vocabularies enable repositories to “speak the same language” worldwide. Over the last 6 years, COAR has developed and made available three Controlled Vocabularies: resource types, access rights and version types. Now Version 3 of the resource type vocabulary has just been released and comes with a new look and feel, also applied to the other Controlled Vocabularies. Controlled Vocabularies support multilingualism across repositories and enable them to be compliant with FAIR principles, especially findability and interoperability.
