The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), the international member organisation that builds capacity, align policies and practices to support repository networks globally, has announced a significant milestone. Controlled Vocabularies enable repositories to “speak the same language” worldwide. Over the last 6 years, COAR has developed and made available three Controlled Vocabularies: resource types, access rights and version types. Now Version 3 of the resource type vocabulary has just been released and comes with a new look and feel, also applied to the other Controlled Vocabularies. Controlled Vocabularies support multilingualism across repositories and enable them to be compliant with FAIR principles, especially findability and interoperability.
As a member of the Editorial Board for Controlled Vocabularies at COAR, our very own Susanna Mornati, COO of 4Science has contributed directly to this achievement! Further information on the Controlled Vocabularies and the Editorial Board can be found here
We are proud to be contributing to this important global work, and to be contributing to the realisation of COAR’s vision of: “A sustainable, inclusive and trusted global knowledge commons based on a network of open access digital repositories”.
