Dear friends and DSpace community members and fans,

Another year has passed, we carried on tirelessly during the pandemic and we thank all partners and customers who continued to put their trust in us. It is only by providing services to institutions that 4Science can continue to invest resources in ceaseless contributions to the DSpace community. More than twenty new clients turned to our services in 2021, added to the more than 70 clients from 5 continents we are already serving. We are proud to have never failed to support the community as one of the two leading contributors to DSpace 7, with our utmost commitment.

2021 has been rich in results: another entry in the DSpace Committer Group, the release of the ORCID and OpenAIRE compliance for DSpace 5 & 6, the OpenAIRE-ELD project, DSpaceCRIS becoming the top ORCID-enabled repository, our participation in ten presentations at Open Repositories 2021.

An important goal is related to security, an emerging challenge in the digital world: besides being an ISO9001-certified company, 4Science has become a Solution Provider of the leading Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).

But the major achievement of 2021 was the release of DSpace-CRIS 7 (in June) and DSpace 7 (in August): as a leading company in these spectacular undertakings, with contributions from institutions such as the Technical University Hamburg (TUH), 4Science also brought to the world the first repository in production with DSpace 7. Join the DSpace-CRIS working group to learn more!

…But all this is not entirely true either: our major achievement during these tough times is definitely you, who continue to support us and believe with us in an open and accessible science, even more so in these pandemic times where research is playing a key role.

If you want to know more about what we did in 2021, you can take a look at our blog.

Stay with us – because we believe the best is yet to come: as we travel down this path together, we wish you a more peaceful, safer and healthier 2022 with all our heart.

A big thank you,

the Team of 4Science
