4Science is an ORCID Certified Service Provider, so we and our community are proud to highlight the fact that DSpace-CRIS emerges as the top ORCID-enabled CRIS/RIMS, ticking almost all of the boxes in ORCID’s own analysis and comparison of ORCID-enabled systems: https://info.orcid.org/orcid-enabled-systems/
Persistent identifiers (PIDs), especially ORCID (the persistent identifier for people/researchers), are sustainable and long-lasting unique references for digital resources, recognised worldwide as fundamental enablers of connection, discovery and knowledge sharing. PIDs are a critical part of the research infrastructure.
DSpace-CRIS 7 has full integration with ORCID v.3, enabling login via ORCID and push/pull to/from the ORCID registry. You can easily manage your synchronisation settings, and researchers can connect with and self-manage their ORCID profile as appropriate, providing optimal flexibility. Most importantly DSpace-CRIS enables a very wide range of entity data to be added, whether bibliographic, funding, works, employment, affiliation or qualifications.
If, as Jisc highlighted last year, Persistent Identifiers are “the way forward”, and are especially critical for open research, 4Science is delighted to be at the vanguard of the global effort to put this into practice!
