Liberabit the new version of the University of Salerno’s digital library is online
The new version of Liberabit, the digital library of the University of Salerno, is online, dedicated to the preservation, accessibility, and enhancement of the library and archival heritage of the University and partner institutions.
The Solution
Conceived as an ecosystem in constant evolution, Liberabit collects and organizes library and archival collections, periodical collections, documentary and iconographic materials, offering a broad and structured view of the university’s cultural heritage. The platform allows clear and immersive consultation of digital objects, promoting access both for the academic community and for the non-specialist public interested in the cultural and intellectual history of the area.
A central role is played by historical periodicals, a fundamental resource for the study of scientific, literary, and popular science production between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and by personal collections, which provide the context of the production of works and intellectual activities.
The project, carried out with the technical support of 4Science, is based on DSpace‑GLAM, integrated with the IIIF standard (International Image Interoperability Framework), which allows digital images to be viewed, compared, and reused in an interoperable way across different platforms, ensuring sustainable collection management and advanced consultation methods (zoom, side-by-side comparison, annotations). The new version of Liberabit therefore strengthens the role of the digital library as a strategic tool for memory, research, and the sharing of cultural heritage, confirming itself as an open and continuously enriched project.
4Science presentations at Open Repositories
Even if this year’s Open Repositories will be online, 4Science will be a supporter sponsor of the event showcasing multiple presentations:
- Adding Institutional Equipment and Facilities to the Research Activity Snapshot in DSpace-CRIS
- Towards the integration of CORE into DSpace
- DSpace Merger: Authority Framework vs Relationship Framework
- Enhancing Transparency in Repositories: Exploring the DSpace 10 Audit Trail Feature
- Challenges and solutions for reliable and performant DSpace repositories
- Historica: Exploring Cultural Heritage Through Space and Time with DSpace-GLAM
We are excited to be part of this event and we can’t wait to engage with the online audience from all around the world! Do not forget to stop by the online booth and ask our team questions!
4Science attended the Dataverse community meeting in Barcelona
It was a great experience to be part of the Dataverse community meeting in Barcelona.
Our commitment to Open Science goes beyond the DSpace community and support. Our team is not only familiar with the platform but actively involved in its community and ongoing evolution. At the annual Dataverse Community Meeting we were directly exposed to the latest developments, use cases, and priorities around support, governance, integrations, and long-term sustainability.
In other words, we’re not approaching Dataverse from the outside, we’re closely connected to the community and to the day-to-day realities of the platform.
Because of our involvement, we provide Dataverse hosting solutions for institutions of any size
