Technical Update: 4Science is working on an Audit Trail feature for DSpace
New capability lets administrators track and review key events in the repository: item metadata changes, bundle and bitstream creation/deletion, user activity and more.
Feature will be easily enabled through a configuration setting and stores events in a dedicated Solr core. Administrators will be able to view detailed logs both at the item level and in a centralized audit dashboard.
The feature, originally developed in DSpace-CRIS, has been further enhanced to be more comprehensive in the details collected. In effect, this enhancement will strengthen the transparency and accountability of DSpace repositories, which is important for institutions aiming to track changes.
4Science continues to support the DSpace community by improving tools for governance, security, and data integrity.
This enhanced feature has been submitted to the DSpace community, and it is currently under review for inclusion in the DSpace 10.0 release milestone.
Stay Tuned for future updates!
Our commitment to the community
When at 4Science we say that we actively contribute to the DSpace community beyond just lines of code, we really mean it. After a successful start of the implementation of DSpace-CRIS at the University of Zambia, their team flew all the way to Europe to meet in person with our team and enjoy a high quality dedicated and personalized training.
This is the way we want to support our community and the institutions that decide to partner with us. A trustworthy, transparent, and collaborative relationship that goes beyond the mere repository implementation. We want to build long-lasting relationships that will shape the future of Open Science and Open Research.
We understand that every institution has different needs and requirements, and our team of experts is here to make your project a reality.
We love what we do for our community, and we will keep moving forward together.
