On February 12, in Bologna, 4Science held its 2025 Kick-off, an event that marked the beginning of a year full of ambitions, ideas, and innovation. A united team, with many young and brilliant faces, gathered to share visions, strategies, and above all, to give space to constructive creativity!
The event
During the event, we launched our annual internal Hackathon, a unique opportunity to experiment, dare, and develop new ideas for DSpace, its extensions, and Dataverse: with passion and dedication, our teams explored new solutions to improve the usability, dissemination, and user experience of open source platforms. DSpace, DSpace-CRIS, DSpace-GLAM, and Dataverse were at the center of our reflections, with new ideas to enhance their integration with innovative tools and ensure more effective knowledge and data management. If there’s one thing that distinguishes us, it’s the ability to innovate even when we’re having fun. The energy and enthusiasm we saw yesterday demonstrate how 4Science is a place where ideas come to life, fueled by a culture of continuous improvement.
Exploring new horizons
We explored new scenarios of AI applied to next-generation platforms, imagining the future of open research and digital infrastructures. The photos of the happy faces of the participants show that 4Science is not just technology, but above all community, inclusion, and appreciation of diversity: we know that different perspectives generate better ideas – and it is precisely this richness that allows us to constantly innovate.
A year full of ambitions
This Kick-off was a moment to reaffirm how fundamental it is to work together, with everyone’s contribution, to build increasingly effective solutions for universities, institutions, and cultural organizations, and we know we have set in motion a journey that will bring great innovations in 2025. The ideas that emerged during the Hackathon will be developed in the coming months, fueling our commitment to making knowledge increasingly accessible and usable for everyone.And, between one challenge and another… perhaps we realized that we’ll need to order some shirts in a larger size for the next events! 😆 Expect us for new adventures and revolutionary ideas. 4Science’s journey continues, thanks to the passion and expertise of our incredible team!
