The legality rating is a synthetic indicator of companies’ compliance with high standards of legality.
It takes the form of a score between a minimum of one and a maximum of three ‘stars’.
The applicant enterprise obtains the basic score ★ if it meets all the requirements set out in Article 2 of the Implementing Regulation on Legality Rating. The basic score may be increased by a “+” for each additional requirement that the company meets among those provided for in Article 3 of the Regulation. The achievement of three “+” results in the award of an additional star, up to a maximum score of ★★.
The legality rating is a tool introduced in 2012 for Italian companies, aimed at promoting and introducing principles of ethical behaviour in the corporate sphere, through the assignment of an ‘award’ – measured in ‘stars’ – indicative of companies’ respect for legality and, more generally, of the degree of attention paid to the proper management of their business. The awarding of the rating is linked by law to advantages in the granting of public financing and facilities for access to bank credit.
