What will we talk about?

In the Webinar 4Science will present their last contribution donated to the community for the DSpace8/8.1 releases.
4Science made several significant contributions that enhanced the platform’s functionality, performance, and accessibility. Thanks to various fundings like OpenAIRE Call Innovation funded project, COAR, University of California – California Digital Library they developed functionalities that facilitate the import of publications for users with a Researcher Profile via the OpenAIRE Publication REST API. Additionally, they supported the COAR Notify Protocol, enabling Linked Data Notifications (LDN) to communicate with external systems.

4Science also introduced a feature allowing users to request the withdrawal or reinstatement of items using the Quality Assurance tool. They enhanced the submission process by allowing submitters to define a “primary” bitstream, which is then highlighted on the item page. Integration with the Research Organization Registry (ROR) API was also added, allowing the import of “Organizational Unit” entities, with information shareable via OAI-PMH and ORCID.

Performance improvements were made, including enhancements to media filter performance and sitemap generation. Accessibility fixes were implemented for the header, navbar, and admin sidebar. Lastly, several bugs were resolved, including issues related to the Amazon S3 data store, MathJAX code display, and missing subjects in system emails. These contributions collectively advanced the DSpace 8.0 platform, making it more robust and user-friendly.

In this webinar, 4Science will demonstrate the interoperability of DSpace within the research ecosystem through various use cases. This will highlight integrations with standard protocols, such as COAR Notify, and external services and registries like DataCite, ORCID, and ROR. These integrations showcase how DSpace can seamlessly connect with other systems to enhance research workflows and data management.
